Hundreds of local students to get Leaving Cert results today
Approximately 1,500 local people will receive their Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied results this morning, Friday August 22.
In Westmeath, 1,474 pupils sat the Leaving Cert and a further 46 sat the Leaving Cert Applied in June (predicted numbers issued at the time).
The results are issued through the Candidate Self Service Portal available at www.examinations.ie and to school authorities through the SEC Schools Portal.
They will be available online from 10am and in the schools from early morning.
For 2025 the State Examinations Commission (SEC) will again apply a post-marking adjustment once marking is complete. This adjustment will bring results in the aggregate up to a point broadly midway between 2020 and 2021 levels.
Turn2Me, a national mental health charity, has meanwhile issued guidance to help young people manage the anxiety, stress, and anticipation that can come with waiting for their results, including six tips to help support students and their families to prepare. See turn2me.ie.
In a statement issued in June this year, the State Examinations Commission said: 'On Wednesday 4 June 2025, some 140,457 candidates are due to commence their Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied and Junior Cycle examinations across the country in some 5,846 main and almost 10,000 special examination centres through the network of over 800 post-primary schools, and other venues recognised by the State Examinations Commission (SEC) to hold the certificate examinations.
'Delivery of the State Examinations is a massive logistical exercise involving the secure distribution of circa 4 million examination papers to the examination superintendents responsible for supervising the written examinations.'
