Looks for day and for night at Half Time Glow Up fundraiser hosted by ‘Calendar Girls’ crew
The ‘Calendar Girls’ crew hosted a Half Time Glow Up makeup demonstration, featuring both a day look and a night look, on Saturday, August 23. The event took place at Murtagh’s, Multyfarnham, with local beauty expert Maelisa Tierney, as part of the Multyfarnham Film Awards fundraising. It was organised by the Calendar Girls crew, one of seven local groups producing movies for the awards.
Maelisa Tierney shared professional tips on makeup application and skincare, based on her decade-plus of experience, gave product recommendations, and answered questions, while carrying out a live demonstration on Calendar Girls cast member Megan O’Neill.
Guests were encouraged to “have a bit of fun, enjoy a girly night out”, said Megan, who is one of the organisers and actors in the film. Attendees also had the chance to win raffle prizes, as the winning numbers hidden beneath their chairs.
A separate fundraising raffle that features 30 prizes worth more than €2,000 - including two tickets to see Manchester United play at Old Trafford - continues, and the winners will be announced on Friday November 7.
Earlier in the day, a car wash and cake sale had been held at the Multy GAA grounds. More events are also planned for later in the month.
The Calendar Girls crew will begin filming in October, and rehearsals scheduled throughout September.
The Film Awards night is at the Johnstown Estate, Enfield, on November 21.
In the lead-up to the ceremony, the casts and crews will be rehearsing and the seven movies feature almost 100 local actors. As well as Calendar Girls, the films are The Snapper, The Field, Father Ted, Bad Sisters, Forrest Gump, and Derry Girls.
The Film Awards aims to raise funds to upgrade community and sports facilities in Multyfarnham. In recent years, Multyfarnham GAA have been growing and they recently opened a new Croke Park size pitch with a walking track around it. Their next project is the development of an astroturf pitch.
