Planned water outage to affect parts of Mullingar

Uisce Éireann has advised residents and businesses in parts of Mullingar that a planned water outage will take place tomorrow Wednesday, 27 August, from 9am to 3pm. The disruption will affect customers in the Clonmore Industrial Estate and surrounding areas while essential water main repair works are carried out.

Dave Murphy, spokesperson for Uisce Éireann, acknowledged the inconvenience the works may cause. “Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works, and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation,” he said.

Customers are advised that following the completion of the repair work, it may take two to three hours for normal water supply to return, particularly for properties on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann will receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Those who wish to register as a vulnerable customer, or as an alternative contact, can do so via the Uisce Éireann Vulnerable Customers page.

Uisce Éireann encourages customers to stay informed through multiple platforms, including their website, X channel @IWCare, and the customer care helpline, which is available 24/7 on 1800 278 278. A free text alert service is also available, offering real-time updates on local issues; customers can sign up using their Eircode and mobile number at the Text Alerts page.

Residents and businesses are advised to plan ahead and ensure they have adequate water supplies during the outage period.
