Tudenham Cup success for Mullingar over Slieve Russell
Mulligar Golf Club notes
Inter-Club
The final of the Tudenham Cup (sponsored by Smiddy’s Bar) took place on Saturday September 6. In a hard-fought, great-spirited and tense encounter, the matches flowed to and fro.
Mullingar got out to an early lead in most matches before the momentum swung to Slieve Russell, leading in two matches with the other three very close. The Mullingar team then reset and doubled down to run out winners with the first three matches all going to the team on the 20th, 18th and 17th respectively. Congratulations to all involved and specifically to Team Captain Shane Cook. Club captain Frank Cotter was delighted to be able to ring the bell as the trophy came home. The successful Mullingar GC panel was: Tony Hepburn, Steven O’Hara, Adam Scott, Joe Quinlan, Derek Ruane, Damien Hand, Kyle Maguire, Stephen Lyons, Brian McGinley, Shane Cook (captain), Paddy Dunne, Johnny Swarbrigg, Kieran Smith, James Devine and Niall Kennedy.
More details in next week’s notes.
Fashion Show a great success
The fashion show took place at the Bloomfield House Hotel on Thursday September 4. This event, which raises funds for the Club Development Fund and for some local charities, was a huge success. The event was sold out, and in addition to the fashion show, consisted of a Tombola and Auction generously sponsored by over 200 local businesses and individuals, and showcased the quality of garments available within our town’s stores along with some special collections. Thanks to all those who put in so much hard work to make it happen and those hardy individuals who took part in the modelling (& Abba show).
