Councillors to hear from prospective presidental candidates next week

The members of Westmeath County Council are to receive presentations from prospective candidates seeking the nomination of the council in the forthcoming presidential election, on Monday next.

A special meeting of the council has been arranged for Monday September 15 at Áras an Chontae in Mullingar and it has a single item on the agenda, as stated above.

A spokesperson for the Council said that over 20 prospective Presidential election candidates had submitted an interest in addressing the Chamber in the hope of receiving a ballot paper nomination.

The Council is due to contact the candidates requesting confirmation of their attendance at the meeting on Monday afternoon next.
