First days at Sacred Heart School
This first week of opening at Sacred Heart School was an exciting one of exploration and discovery for all the children and the team. The wonderful design and layout of the new school building are state of the art and will make for an excellent learning environment for all the primary school pupils and senior students.
The children have been enjoying the spacious, light-filled classrooms with the latest in educational technology. It was in the outdoor classrooms and child-centred gardens that the pupils and team had lots of fun in the September sunshine, especially with the playground, jungle gym and exercise equipment – which was a huge hit with the students.
Students and staff were also marvelling at nature working away busily in the wildflower meadows and newly planted woodland, which is fast becoming a haven for wildlife and biodiversity.
The students are commencing work now to achieve their first Green Flag for litter and waste management, while also working ahead for the biodiversity award in years to come.
Fr Norman, newly appointed school chaplain, called in on the Wednesday morning to meet the children and bless their classrooms and gardens. The children were proud to show him around and help with the blessings and have nice chats.
Fr Norman is a skilful gardener and will be able to lend his green gardening and trees wisdom for the Green Flag committee of students.
