Traffic calming works are progressing in Mullingar

Traffic calming works are progressing across the Mullingar Kinnegad district, and Ballinea, Killucan, Collinstown and Clonmellon are among the areas in line for new ramps and crossings.

At the September meeting, councillors welcomed the strategy of spreading small-scale safety schemes throughout the district. Cllr Niall Gaffney asked that members be shown the Killucan design so they could feed back community concerns. Cllr Ken Glynn asked whether extra schemes could be added if budget funding remains later this year.

Council engineer Pat Kavanagh confirmed that the Killucan design is finalised and work should begin within weeks. “Possibly there may well be more,” he added. “If there’s funding available at the end of the year, work will be done.”
