Historical element for Culture Night in Rochfortbridge
St Joseph’s Parish Hall in Rochfortbridge was a place of historical learning last Friday evening, as part of the nationwide Culture Night. Castlelost Heritage Group hosted the event, and speakers were Seosamh Ó Maoileoin and John Gavin.
The evening explored the history of Castlelost and the surrounding areas, from the 12th century to the present day.
Visitors heard detailed accounts of what life was like in the area over the years, as each speaker provided insights accompanied by pictures.
Seosamh Ó Maoileoin delivered detailed stories of significant local people throughout history, including the conditions of historical sites like graveyards. "Something I have always stood by is that we must we need to look after graveyards. Future Generations won’t judge us too kindly if we don’t look after the final resting places of past generations."
