Opportunity for collectors and anyone with love for antiques
An opportunity awaits collectors and anyone with a love for antique items at the Usher Auctions October Antique and Collectible Sale, on Monday October 6 at their showrooms in Kells (A82 E022).
Among the 1,300 lots, there is a selection from the estate of the late Michael Murray of Longford, a well-known figure and respected collector with a local historical resonance.
According to the auctioneers, the sale is one of the most varied and interesting of the year, so whether you’re looking to furnish your home, pick up something unusual, or simply enjoy browsing through beautiful old pieces, there’s something here for everyone.
Among the highlights are fine examples of Irish silver, handwoven carpets and richly patterned rugs, elaborate mirrors, ornate chandeliers, and a stunning French Art Deco copper and glass chandelier.
Outdoor living is also well represented, in quality garden furniture, planters, garden statues and traditional wrought iron gates. The sale features superb Waterford crystal glassware, full dinner and tea sets, and other fine ceramics. Those with a passion for furniture will be interested by a broad selection of Georgian and Victorian pieces, including a standout Victorian extendible dining table with 12 matching chairs.
Book lovers will enjoy a collection of antiquarian and Irish-interest books, and there is a range of wines, spirits, and Irish whiskeys, some rare and collectible. There's also a great mix of quirky items that add character to any home.
Items can be viewed at the auction rooms from 10am-5pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of this week; on Saturday October 4, noon-5pm; Sunday October 5, 2-6pm; Monday October 6, 10am-4pm.
