Coláiste Mhuire welcomes huge numbers to open evening as enrolment 2026 begins

Coláiste Mhuire Secondary School, Mullingar welcomed almost 300 sixth class boys and their families through its doors on Thursday for what proved to be another successful open evening.

Principal Keith Quinn expressed his pride in the event and the students who made it possible: “We were delighted to welcome the boys and their families into our school on Thursday evening. We feel our open evening is unique in that our students, as always, are front and centre. Our students led the entire evening in showcasing their school with positivity and pride, sharing their experience of life at Coláiste Mhuire.”

Throughout the evening, visitors experienced first-hand the school’s strong sense of community and academic excellence. Mr. Quinn said: “It was a great opportunity to highlight the high academic outcomes for our students – we were the top performing school in Westmeath with students attaining the maximum Leaving Certificate grade. In saying that, we celebrate the success of all our students – we praise effort, not grades – and all students have the opportunity and is encouraged to excel to the best of their abilities here.”

From STEM and Lego showcases to music, sport, and technology demonstrations, there was something to capture every young visitor’s imagination. Teachers and students worked side by side to highlight the diverse and expanding range of opportunities available at Coláiste Mhuire, reflecting the school’s commitment to meeting the growing interests and talents of its students.

Mr Quinn concluded: “It was another occasion in which we were immensely proud of our students, and this school year is only just beginning… watch this space.”

Families are reminded that the closing date for applications for both mainstream and special class provision is Friday October 24 at 10am.
