Local SuperValu off-licence team make awards finals for fourth year in a row
The team from SuperValu Mullingar have been selected as finalists in the annual ‘Edward Dillion and Santa Rita Estates SuperValu Off Licence of the Year Awards’ for the fourth time.
It is a significant achievement, as the local crew are among the 29 from the more than 220 SuperValu stores in the country to have been selected as finalists.
Paul and Alex are the duo who run the off-licence at the Mullingar shop.
Alex was busy when the Westmeath Examiner called in, but Paul said: “We’re proud of the achievement. It’s the fourth time in a row that we’ve gone into the final, and it’s a big thing for us to get there.
“A lot of hard work goes into it.”
Paul Bergin is the off-licence manager and the assistant manager of Buckley’s SuperValu, and he was keen to give his colleague the credit: “He does all the work, he really runs the place and I want to give him a big shout-out.”
The awards take place on Thursday November 20 at The Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny, and are hosted by Shay Byrne from RTÉ.
The winners of the SuperValu Off Licence of the Year Award will enjoy a trip to Nashville to visit the home of Jack Daniel’s.
