Mullingar Autos Volkswagen launch 2026 lineup

It’s that time of year again when the evenings get darker, temperatures plummet and motor dealers announce their new year offers.

The team at Mullingar Autos Volkswagen launchi their 2026 lineup with a special sales event this week, till Saturday November 8.

As the event began, brand manager James Bourke spoke about the changing popularity of fuel types in Westmeath: “We have seen a huge change in the types of cars being registered here in 2025.

“The first 10 months show us that the traditional fuel types, petrol and diesel, are becoming less popular in Westmeath – diesel registrations are down by 33% in a year.

“In comparison, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric now make up over 58% of all new car sales in the county.

“A possible explanation of the drop in diesel sales is that a number of car manufacturers no longer produce diesel cars. We are lucky with Volkswagen to be in a position to sell all fuel types and, funny enough, the Golf and the Tiguan SUV in diesel are still popular.

“We have had the ID electric range since 2020 and EVs are growing in popularity all the time, but the biggest change I’ve noticed in 2025 was the improvement with hybrid technology.

“Volkswagen, like a number of manufacturers, now have vehicles capable of over 100 Kilometres on only electric power before swapping back to petrol. I find customers like this as a nice middle ground, if they aren’t ready for full electric,” James concluded.

Call in to Mullingar Autos, Dublin Bridge, Mullingar, before November 8 to see their 2026 line-up.
