Vacant properties info session
Westmeath County Council will hold an information session next Tuesday, November 11 for anyone interested in the renovation or restoration of derelict or vacant properties.
The local authority Vacant Homes Officer will be in attendance and give a talk on the topic. The public will be invited to ask questions on the various support schemes that are in place.
The local authority is endeavouring to address the issue of derelict sites around the county as they can have a detrimental impact on the social, economic, commercial and visual aspects on the surrounding neighbourhood.
Westmeath County Council say the public have a role to play: “It is important that they are reported, investigated and rendered non-derelict.”
The council enforces the Derelict Sites Act which requires the owners and occupiers of land to ensure the land or structures do not become or do not continue to be a derelict site.
The information session takes place at The Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar on Tuesday November 11.
