Troy welcomes increase in core funding for Family Resource Centres

TD Robert Troy has welcomed an announcement of a substantial increase in core funding across the country.

The announcement came from Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley, and is for Family Resource Centres countrywide.

From January next year, minimum annual funding for Family Resources Centres will rise from €160,000 to €180,000.

Robert Troy said: “Family Resource Centres are the backbone of community support in towns and villages across Ireland.

“I particularly welcome the increase for Cara Phort FRC, with whom I work closely. Their services are relied upon by families every day, and this uplift will allow them to strengthen their programmes and plan with confidence for the year ahead.

“This is a positive step in recognising the vital work FRCs do, from family support to youth groups, education programmes and community development.”

Minister Foley highlighted the importance of sustaining strong community services, saying: “I am delighted to have secured funding in Budget 2025 to increase the minimum annual funding for these Family Resource Centres in recognition of the vital role they play in their communities.”

TD Robert Troy concluded: “This funding will help ensure that centres like Cara Phort can continue providing essential supports at a time when families need them the most.”
