Sinn Féin launches survey on housing maintenance

Sinn Féin TD for Longford-Westmeath Sorca Clarke has launched Sinn Féin’s housing maintenance survey.

Clarke said: “If you are a tenant in Longford-Westmeath, we want to hear from you. Have you experienced mould and damp? Has your landlord or your county council failed to address these issues?

“We are seeking your views and experiences on this.

“Every week, people in Longford and Westmeath show me disgraceful situations with ongoing mould, damp or other maintenance issues. Decades of underfunding have left Longford and Westmeath County Councils unable to properly address these issues. Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are eager to blame Longford and Westmeath County Council when in reality it is their budgetary decisions that have led to this. We intend to compile these results to highlight just how badly government are failing people.

“As the weather worsens, the reality is that people’s homes in Longford and Westmeath will fall further into disrepair. A lack of proactive housing maintenance means that people’s homes are more vulnerable in this weather. We want to hear from you about your experiences.”
