Christmas Market returns to Mount Street

This weekend, Saturday and Sunday December 13 and 14, Mullingar will host its Christmas Market on Mount Street, featuring the best of local food and crafts. The market is run by Mullingar Chamber, alongside the Taste of Westmeath group and it will showcase what the local producers have to offer.

The market will be open on Saturday from 11am to 6pm and on Sunday from 11am to 4pm, and there will be live music and family fun on Market Square throughout the weekend.

Chamber president James Bourke said: “We are really looking forward to seeing the market return to Mount Street. It was there a number of years ago and it was a great success. It was important for us that only local traders were used for this market and we are grateful to be working with the Taste of Westmeath group for this event.

“WinterFest Mullingar has had a great kick-off, with the lights switch-on event and also Mullingar Skates, which is open again at the bottom of Gaol Hill. I’d like to thank all that have helped make this market possible, Westmeath County Council, Mullingar Tidy Towns, the gardaí, Taste of Westmeath and all the local traders on Mount street.”

Road closures will be in place throughout the weekend to facilitate WinterFest. The road will be closed from Wallace’s Pub to Market Square from Friday December 12 to Monday December 15.
