Town bus service operator to hold open recruitment night

The Mullingar town bus service is getting closer as Bernard Kavanagh and Sons are hosting recruitment open evening for it this week.

The event is at the Mullingar Park Hotel tomorrow Thursday December 11, (4.30-7.30pm).

Bernard Kavanagh and Sons are well established and respected transport operators, and they have been appointed to run the upcoming National Transport Authority (NTA) town service.

They are seeking full-time and part-time drivers based in Mullingar.

Visitors to the open evening will have the opportunity to meet the Bernard Kavanagh and Sons operations and recruitment team, learn about the new route network, and discuss pay, rosters, training and career progression within the company.

Candidates can express their interest and drop in CVs on the night; no appointments are required.

Thomas Kavanagh, director, Bernard Kavanagh and Sons Ltd, said: “This is a great opportunity for professional drivers in Mullingar to join a modern public transport service right at the beginning.

“We’re offering competitive conditions, structured training and a supportive, safety-focused environment – all while working locally in your own community.”

The Mullingar Town Bus Service will provide more frequent and reliable transport options within the town, supporting commuters, students and local businesses while reducing car dependency and traffic.

Bernard Kavanagh and Sons are particularly interested in experienced D licence drivers, but the company will also discuss pathways from B to D licence for strong candidates looking to progress their driving careers.

If you are interested and have them, bring your B and/or D driving licences as well as your CV.
