Helium turns young artists’ creativity into Christmas gifts
This Christmas, young people with health challenges are sharing their creativity through Helium, a Mullingar-based charity whose free arts workshops help children and teenagers nationwide build confidence, connection, and wellbeing.
As part of Helium’s Making of Magic Appeal, young workshop participants have created vibrant digital prints available to purchase at helium.ie for €25 each. Every purchase helps fund Helium’s free workshops in hospitals, community centres, and online, giving more children the chance to explore, create, and connect.
The Helium HQ is at Pearse Street, Mullingar, and CEO and founder Helene Hugel is a local resident.
Many young people in Mullingar already take part in Helium’s online workshops, including Aisling Savage, nine, a third-class student at Holy Family Primary School.
Thanks to local funding, Helium will be bringing in-person summer camps to Mullingar next year, giving local children the chance to experience the workshops face-to-face for the first time alongside Helium’s online offering.
Aisling has loved taking part in Helium’s online workshops over the last three years. Her confidence has grown, and she especially enjoyed having some of her artwork featured in a nationwide exhibition.
Aisling’s mother, Cathy Savage, said: “We’re really looking forward to the in-person summer camps in Mullingar next year, and supporting the Making of Magic Appeal is a great way to help more children like her enjoy these opportunities.”
