District council officials to hear about Harbour Street concerns

A meeting is to be arranged for either this month or January, between residents of the Harbour Street area of Mullingar and officials from the Municipal District, Cllr Aoife Davitt was assured at the district’s most recent meeting.

Cllr Davitt, who had asked that the district engage with the residents, explained that they were troubled by “ongoing issues”.

“They just want clarity on where they stand, and about the future of our town,” she explained, adding that there have been some new businesses opened there lately, and stating that the street has had some plans drawn up for itself.

“They have spent huge amounts of money on looking to the future, how Harbour Street would look, how they fit in,” she said.

The councillor added that as Active Travel action comes to their area, they really wanted to be “woven into the pattern” of what’s happening on the street.
