St. Aengus FC Mountrath vs Mullingar Athletic SWANS

Mullingar Athletic Swans U11s travelled to Mountrath on Saturday to take on St. Aengus FC in their final game of 2025 before Christmas. Despite cold conditions, the young Swans turned out in great numbers ready to give their all.

The Swans started the game on the front foot and played extremely well throughout. It was an enjoyable and competitive match, with the girls showing fantastic effort, determination, and teamwork from start to finish.

Our captain for the day was Lily, who gave an excellent team talk before kick-off, encouraging everyone to give their all. Her leadership was evident throughout the game.

The strong performance was reflected in the final scoreline, with The Swans securing a well-deserved 4–1 victory.

Ava continued her brilliant form with a superb hat-trick, adding to her tally as the team’s top scorer this year. Susan also got on the scoresheet with a great goal, showing real determination to win the ball back before calmly finishing into the net.

Other standout performances came from Leah and Izzy who were rock solid at the back. Macey played brilliantly, popping up all over the pitch while Sol and Iveagh controlled the midfield with poise. Hollie's tackling and passing in the 1st half was so important to the team, she made some great saves while in goals in the second half to keep St Aengus at bay.

A big thank you to St Aengus who like the Swans are a team very much at the beginning of their journey. Both teams have very bright futures.

U11 Swans don't have a game until the January 3, 2026. Merry Christmas to all the players and supporters.

Mullingar Athletic SWANS 0 v Temple Villa 2

The U16s lost 0-2 to league leaders Temple Villa at home on Saturday morning in Gainstown. In a very even contest, Temple Villa pulled away with two goals in the last 10 mins to take all the points. The half-time score board, of nil all, reflected two well matched teams, Swans arguably looking more of a goal threat but Temple Villa better in possession.

Swans grew into the game even more upon the restart and were very unlucky not to take the lead with 15 mins to play after Aoibhinn's shot from the edge of the box had the ’keeper beaten only to rebound back off the upright in to the keepers arms. The Swans were undone with fulltime in sight with two goals in two minutes, both of which they were disappointed with but from a Temple Villa perspective were well taken. The effort, desire and application of every Swan was outstanding and it just wasn't to be their day against a very strong Temple Villa side.

Match day squad: Elsa (c), Alice, Suzi, Kaila, Faith, Moya, Florence, Isabelle, Ava, Asha, Alexa, Aoibhinn, Aisling, Masa.

SFAI U12

Edenderry Town v Mullingar Athletic SWANS

Our u12s played in the fourth round of the SFAI Trophy away to Edenderry Town on Saturday morning, December 6.

This was going to be a close game and it was exactly that. Both teams played some really good football. The game was end to end with both teams creating plenty of chances but the teams defences held firm.

It took till the last minute of extra time for the deadlock to be broken and it was Éirinn who found the net with what was the goal of the season so far. Eva S played a looping ball into the box and Éirinn instinctively flicked the ball over the on rushing goalkeeper’s head and into the net.

Team: Ciara, Weronika, Leah, Sophie, Olivia, Eva S, Emily, Eva B, Mia, Ava, Alison, Áine, Éirinn.
