Actor Mary McEvoy from Delvin will be reminiscing.

Nostalgic look back at TV ads over the decades

They don’t make ads like they used to! They may only last a few seconds, but television adverts offer a unique and entertaining window into Irish life over the decades.

'FADÓ FADÓ', produced by Adare Productions, takes us on a nostalgic trip down memory lane as different generations of family and friends come together to revisit the funniest, cheekiest, most unforgettable ads to ever grace Irish screens since television first arrived in homes in the 1960s.

From the swinging ’60s to the disco-lit ’70s, the sky-high hair of the ’80s, and the Celtic Tiger–charged, grunge-tinged ’90s, we look back at the ads that defined their eras. We discover how they still have the power to shock and delight, to make us laugh and cry—and how they reveal so much about Ireland and how we’ve evolved.

Contributors include Delvin actor, Mary McEvoy; Louise Cantillon and her mother, Caitríona; John Sharpson and his mother, Anna Bale; Sinéad Ní Uallacháin and Siún Ní Dhuinn, podcasters, Beo ar Éigean; Síomha Ní Ruairc and mother, Damhnait; Irial Ó Ceallaigh agus Gearóid Ó Mórdha; Irish Times journalist, and historian, Harry McGee; Hugh Carr and Louisa Ní Éideáin; Síomha Hennessy agus Eoin P Ó Murchú; Séaghan Ó Súilleabháin 'The Kerry Cowboy' and his aunt, aunt Maria Ni Shúilleabháin; Síle Uí Chróinín agus Máire Uí Laoire; Emma Ní Chearúil agus Martha Nic Giolla Dhaltúin; Bláithín De Búrca and her father, Pádraig De Búrca; Ola Majekodumni and Kevin Johnston: Eoin Ó Catháin agus Cuán Ó Flatharta.

Tune in nightly from Sunday 28th December on TG4 for this entertaining look back.
