Saturday 17 January, Feast Day of St Anthony, Abbot and Protector of Livestock; Annual Blessing of the Animals and Livestock at the Carmelite Church, Moate. Day begins with Mass at 10am praying that our lands be blessed and our animals prosper. Blessing of animals throughout the day with blessed salt and holy water available.

Sunday 18 January, 7pm ‘Songs of Praise’; this year the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity runs between Sunday 18 and Sunday 25 January. On Sunday 18th at 7pm, the Carmelite Church will host a Songs of Praise to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. It will involve choirs and congregations from the Carmelite Church, St Patrick’s and the Church of Ireland community.

Sunday 8 February; the Carmelite Community will mark World Day of the Sick by having the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at all Masses (9am, 10.30am and noon). Through the Anointing of the Sick, people who are sick and in need can experience the healing presence of the Lord. We will have a relic of St Bernadette of Lourdes present for veneration and blessing during the morning.
