As part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations targeting organised crime, personnel from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) conducted an operation in County Meath on Monday, January 19, 2026.
During the course of this operation, Gardaí intercepted two vehicles in the Navan area and seized cannabis worth €120,000, cocaine worth €2,000 and €13,000 in cash.
The occupants of the vehicles, two males in their 40s and a female in her 30s, were detained and subsequently arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006. They are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at a Garda Station in County Meath.
In follow up searches of nearby lands, assisted by the Garda Dog Unit, Gardaí recovered further quantities of cannabis valued at approximately €60,000 and €140,000.
All drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis. Detective Chief Superintendent Seamus Boland, Head of the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, said: “An Garda Síochána will continue to focus our resources on those engaged in organised crime. We are determined to continue dismantling drug trafficking operations across Ireland and will continue doing our part to keep our communities safer. Please think before you use.”
