Delvin GAA celebrate memorable season

The Delvin GAA Club celebrated a successful 2025 when they met for their dinner dance on Saturday in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar.

Patrick Doherty, Westmeath GAA head of operations, was MC for the evening and he ensured everything ran smoothly. Approximately 200 people attended the event and it proved a great social occasion as well as a celebration of a memorable year on the playing fields.

Wexford camogie star Ursula Jacob was among the special guests and she presented the medals to the winners of the Westmeath Senior ‘B’ hurling championship, while the All County Football League Division 7 winners also received their medals.

Westmeath GAA County Committee chairman Paddy Wallace was in attendance and addressed the gathering.

Rory O’Connor, famous for Rory’s Stories, was another special guest. He had his homework done on all the players and was able to invite them on stage for a humorous take on a great season.

The renowned comedian produced a 20-minute sketch to keep the crowd entertained and it proved popular with all in attendance.

Senior hurling manager Seamus Ennis wrote a poem about the successful Senior ‘B’ campaign and it was read by Rory O’Connor.

Two of the senior hurling stars, Adam Ennis and Alan Cox, were unable to attend as they are abroad, but they were both interviewed in advance by Patrick Doherty and the video clips were replayed to the gathering on night.

The Delvin hurler of the year was Dean Ennis, while the footballer of the year award went to Eoin Carolan.

Overall, it was a positive and enjoyable occasion for the Delvin GAA Club, players, committee members, friends and supporters.
