Westmeath jockeys on the mark in Punchestown and Dundalk

Westmeath jockeys Kevin Healy and Rory Cleary both claimed wins over the past week.

Sopelana won the handicap hurdle for four-year-olds at Punchestown under a tidy piece of riding from young Kinnegad rider Kevin Healy last Monday.

Healy made smooth headway along the inside and poached enough of a gap between the final two hurdles that he was able to score by over two lengths from the 5-4 race favourite Bibe Mus.

Sopelana returned at 8-1 for winning trainer Cian Collins based in Robinstown, Co. Meath.

Meanwhile, Athlone rider Rory Cleary was in the saddle when Beau Army won the 7f handicap in Dundalk last Friday. Trained by Dublin's Ado McGuinness, Beau Army won at odds of 5-1.

The three-year-old filly was winning for the second time from a rating in the 40s and she should remain competitive even after being reassessed by the handicapper.
