Update on Ballynacargy streetscape enhancement

Minister of State Robert Troy has welcomed progress on the planned streetscape enhancement project in Ballynacargy which will be funded through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

At the outset of the year Minister Troy, alongside Minister Dara Calleary announced an allocation of €500,000 through the town and village scheme for the works, with the scheme to be progressed by the local council.

In response to progress queries by Minister Troy, district management have confirmed that the scheme will include a regeneration plan for the main street and will also incorporate a link from the greenway to the village.

The council also confirmed that the tender process has commenced and that consultants will be engaged on design and development.

The project is expected to be delivered in full by the end of June 2027.

“This is an exciting project for my home village. I am delighted that the process has commenced and that we have an end date by which time the project will be delivered. I have no doubt that this project will be transformative for Ballynacargy and will be hugely important in helping the village to harness the potential of the greenway tourism right on our doorstep.”

Minister Troy added: “It is vital that the works undertaken are on foot of a considered design which delivers for the people of Ballynacargy. I look forward to working with the design team, and our District staff to ensure we deliver a positive project for the area.”
