One of the most enduring business enterprises in Mullingar, StoneFacings Limited, held a special banquet in their new purpose built building on Friday afternoon, to mark its official opening and 60 years of trading. Generations of customers and suppliers from as far as Italy and Germany joined with StoneFacings staff for the event.
Founded more than six decades ago, StoneFacings has grown to be a leading names in bespoke stone surfaces. From its headquarters in Mullingar, this family-run business combines years of craftsmanship with modern fabrication technology.
StoneFacings traces its origins back to 1964, making it one of the country’s longest-standing stone fabricators. Over the years, the company has developed a reputation for excellence in stone design, fabrication, and installation, serving homeowners, architects, designers, and builders across Ireland.
Their Mullingar production facility blends traditional stone-working skills with advanced machinery to ensure precision and durability in every project. Throughout its history, the company has continually invested in both technology and talent to uphold the high standards its customers expect.
“Today we’re celebrating 60 years of business,” Bríd Guy, sales representative for StoneFacings, told the Westmeath Examiner at the event. “It’s a family-owned business, and we’ve just opened this new, purpose-built building where you can actually come and view the natural stone, and slabs of stone, and select exactly what you want for your worktop.”
Bríd said they new building houses a vast array of options: “We do a mixture of stones. From the large range of porcelain, quartz, quartzite, to marble and granite. We source it from all over the world. We carry premium brands, including world leading Italian brands like Infiniti and SM Quartz.”
StoneFacings operates two principal showrooms, the main one in Mullingar and one in Dublin. For 60 years, StoneFacings Limited has upheld a legacy of artistry, quality, and service in Ireland’s stone fabrication industry. From classic granite worktops to bespoke design elements, the company’s craftsmanship and extensive material range make it a go-to choice for stone surfaces that enhance both functionality and style.
With strong industry credentials and a customer-focused approach, StoneFacings continues to shape beautiful spaces across homes and commercial environments in Ireland.
Bríd says that over the five decades the company has evolved: “We originally started off making headstones, moved on to fireplaces. As the market changed, the company adapted. We now deliver high-quality stone solutions tailored to both residential and commercial projects.
“The company is always trying to evolve. At present we do a lot of kitchen worktops, wall cladding, both commercial and private jobs, so it’s really all about the stone.”
Hosting the celebratory gathering in the new building was very much in keeping with the StoneFacings business ethos that has seen it endure for so long: “Owen, our managing director, wouldn’t have it any other way. He just wanted to celebrate the 60 years, show our appreciation to all our customers and suppliers, and give them a nice meal in our new purpose built building.”
At the launch, the guests were told that some of the customers have had three generations of business with the company. In launching the new building, Enterprise Minister Peter Burk recognised the legacy of StoneFacings: “I just want to acknowledge the excellence that has been the hallmark of this company for six decades, since back in 1964, when it was set up by Eddie.”
Minister Burke commended all who were involved in the businesses success: “One thing in life I think is so important, is to surround yourself with good people and work with good people, then you will achieve your goals and achieve excellence.
“This is a celebration of great employees and the work they have done over almost a generation.”
