Mullingar Equestrian Centre misses out on event

Mullingar Equestrian Centre missed out on being selected as a venue for one the Europe’s most prestigious show jumping events. Last June, Horse Sport Ireland announced they were nominating it to the European Equestrian Federation (EEF) as Ireland’s proposed venue to host a leg of the 2026 Longines EEF Series. At a recent Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture and Food discussing equine passports, the chief executive of Horse Sport Ireland, Denis Duggan, spoke of the failure of the bid: “I am delighted to mention the World Equestrian Games and that this year in Millstreet, we are hosting the under-25s world championship, which is a great coup for Ireland. We were disappointed when the Mullingar Equestrian bid for part of the Longines European series was not successful. That is outside of our hands, but we were supportive of its bid.”

The Longines EEF Series provide an influential path to top-level Nations Cup competition. The 2026 season starts in April in Mannheim, Germany with competitions in Belgium, Italy, Denmark, France, Greece, Norway and Hungary. The semi-finals are in Netherlands and Slovakia and the finals in Avenches, Switzerland in September.
