National Tree Week at Gaelscoil a Choillín
Gaelscoil a Choillín recently celebrated National Tree Week with the addition of a new feature for the school.
Westmeath PPN representatives Edel Ennis, John Bawle and Vincent Bagnall, were on hand with Sean Doran, sign manufacturer, and PJ Fitzpatrick, Crann Trees for Ireland, to mark National Tree Week 2026 at Gaelscoil a Choillín.
National Tree Week 2026 in Ireland ran from March 8 to 15. It focuses on the theme "Growing a Greener Future Together." Organised by the Tree Council of Ireland and Coillte, this annual celebration features community planting projects, free saplings via local councils, and educational events nationwide to promote biodiversity and environmental awareness.
At Gaelscoil a Choillín a cherry blossom donated by Pat Leavy of Slanemore Nursery was planted. Trina Nolan and the students of Gaelscoil a Choillín helped out and shared a cupla focal.
This was one of thousands of tree planting projects, educational walks, and community events as part of National Tree Week 2026 .
