Appeal for witnesses to Longford collision

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision that occurred at Earl Street, Longford on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

At around 10:00am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian (a man in his 80s) was airlifted to Beaumont for treatment of serious injuries. He was pronounced deceased yesterday evening, Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 9.45am and 10:15am on Tuesday 28th April 2026 are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
