Crematorium proposal for Clonmore area of Mullingar
Westmeath County Council planners have received an approach regarding a planning application to develop a crematorium in Mullingar.
Applicant John Healy has made a pre-validation approach to the local authority for a proposed crematorium and supporting infrastructure. It would comprise the construction of a new single-storey crematorium (around 1,520 sqm) and associated outbuildings (approximately 63 sqm) on a site just under eight acres at Zone C, Clonmore Business Park, Clonmore, Mullingar.
The proposed development will also provide: 124 car parking spaces including accessible parking, EV charging spaces, accessible-sized EV charging spaces, three coach parking spaces, and 28 bicycle parking spaces.
The application also takes into account all associated hard and soft landscaping, boundary treatments, roads, footpaths, bin storage, an ESB sub-station, and other ancillary works.
Access to the site is provided from the eastern boundary via the existing business park road, which connects to the R394. The applicant has prepared a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) to accompany the application.
