Plans in place for Delvin improvements
Part 8 planning will be lodged in the coming month for street works in Delvin. Cllr David Jones called on the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad to provide funding for a small streetscape scheme for Delvin after it missed out on funding under the town and village renewal scheme.
The village was not included in the list of beneficiaries of the renewal scheme when it was announced last December. Cllr Jones has said that the inclusion of Delvin would enhance local infrastructure in partnership with the Delvin Amenity Development Group and Tidy Towns.
While the Delvin project faced disappointment in the last funding rounds, efforts are focused on regeneration, including developing community enterprise hubs and enhancing public spaces.
In the reply to the motion, the executive said the Transportation Department and the District Office have advised that they are currently preparing a design for Delvin town for street works and that Part 8 planning would be lodged in the following month.
Cllr Jones said the council have also allocated €15,000 for power washing and planting for Delvin to act as a small streetscape scheme.
