Funding for Men's Sheds across Westmeath and Longford
Seventeen Men's Sheds across Longford and Westmeath have been awarded grants to assist with their day-to-day running costs.
The funding of up to €3,000 for each Men's Shed was announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, and Jerry Buttimer, Minister of State at the Department, and has been distributed through the Irish Men’s Sheds Association (IMSA).
Multyfarnham Men's Shed and Collinstown Fore Men's Shed have been awarded the maximum funding of €3,000; and €2,967.64 was allocated to Castlepollard Men's Shed. Kilbeggan Men's Shed received €2,659 (list below).
Mullingar TD and Minister of State Robert Troy welcomed the allocation: "These are great groups who do so much in their communities to ensure sense of purpose, combat isolation and in certain cases raise fund and support charities.
"I would also like to see funding extended to Women’s Shed, which we are seeing more and more of across our communities."
The funding formed part of a national allocation supporting 369 men's sheds across Ireland.
