Tullamore Camera Club pay tribute to dedicated member

Tullamore Camera Club have paid tribute to one of their members, Phil Brady, for the stamina and dedication she has shown in pursuit of capturing photos of starling murmurations.

Phil has taken some wonderful images of the natural phenomenon at Lough Ennell.

Her starling snapshots have generated media interest and she has been interviewed about them for radio and television.

"At this point, Phil should be on commission from Bloomfield House Hotel and Westmeath Tourism," said a Tullamore Camera Club representative.

"She has, not once but twice, been interviewed for radio and has also made her television debut. She always manages to include a mention of the club - so thank you Phil."

The club have also shared the winning entries from their monthly competition for April, which was on the theme of 'spring' and drew a record entry of 40 photos.

The winning shot, of an ewe and lamb, as chosen by the members, was taken by Emil Cohrt in county Wicklow.

Rosie Cummins' capture of a blackbird in the cherry blossom took home second place.

The guest judge, Velma Mercer from Mountmellick Camera Club, chose Jackie Morrissey's photo of her son with lambs as her favourite shot.

The wild card, as chosen by the committee, was Kieran McEvoy's image of a goldfinch on the hawthorn.

Tullamore Camera Club usually meet on the last Thursday of the month in the Offaly History Centre.

The next meeting is on Thursday May 28, at 8pm. New members are always welcome, no experience required.
