Traffic calming plans progressing for Taughmon village, councillors told

Survey and preliminary design work has begun on a proposed traffic calming scheme for Taughmon village, councillors were told at the May meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

The update came in response to a question from Cllr Andrew Duncan, who sought details on the implementation of traffic calming measures near Taughmon school.

The Transportation Office confirmed that early-stage work on the scheme is now under way and said it is envisaged that the traffic calming design for the village will be completed during the final quarter of 2026.

The proposed works are expected to address ongoing safety concerns in the area surrounding the school and through the village.

Prospect pruning

Separately, Cllr Duncan also requested that two large sycamore trees outside a property in Prospect be pruned, stating that they were blocking light from the house.

In response, the district office said pruning works in Prospect will be carried out during the next tree and hedge-cutting season.
