'Lost in translation?!'

“If you speak English, you’re within the boundaries of Monaghan County Council… however, if you speak an Ghaeilge, apparently you’re in Westmeath!”

So said Niamh McCooey, a Sinn Féin county councillor in Monaghan, on her Facebook page in reference to the sign in this photo.

She continued: “Go raibh maith agaibh to the members of the public who highlighted this sign to me.

“I’m genuinely perplexed as to how this mistake was made. This sign, installed in Emyvale by TII (Transport Infrastructure Ireland), has been brought to the attention of Comhairle Contae Mhuineacháin and they have assured me it will be rectified as soon as possible.”
