St Loman’s have great actors as well as fine footballers
The biggest surprise at the St Loman's GAA Film Awards Night, held on Friday at the Bloomfield House Hotel, was the fact that the club has so many fine dramatic talents among its numbers.
Held as a fundraiser for St Loman's, the evening saw audiences treated to seven mini films, all versions of real films or TV dramas but with the roles on screen filled by members of the club.
"The films were really high quality, with awesome acting and production - everything of the highest standards," says Paul Devine of St Loman's.
The audiences loved what was produced, and the different acting teams greatly enjoyed seeing what their opponents came up with.
"It was a great night for the club," says Paul, adding that the feedback was hugely positive.
"Everyone said it was an amazing night. There was a serious reaction from the audience for all the films."
An added layer of excitement came from the fact that towards the end of the night, four out of the seven members of the club who are on the Westmeath winning team were there - Jason Daly, John Heslin, Danny McCartan and Owen Hogan. "They were brought up on stage and honoured," says Paul.
On Saturday, there a matinee arranged for the children of the actors. "And that night, the well-earned after party for all the actors, took place in Kerrigan's.
Mr Devine concluded by extending thanks to the sponsors, David Smyth Catering and to Kevin Rowe events, as well as to Bloomfield House Hotel.
