Corpus Christi back for 2026
Mullingar Pastoral Council invite all parishioners to join them for the Feast of Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 7, at the 12.30pm Mass in the Cathedral of Christ the King.
“This is a custom, a tradition we have reintroduced into the life of our parish,” Fr Barry White. “We hope it continues to invite families and young people to experience our parish as a welcoming and caring community of faith where the Gospel is shared and lived and where they can encounter the Risen Lord especially in the Eucharist.”
Following the celebration of the Eucharist, there will be a Eucharistic Procession through part of Mullingar, accompanied by the boys and girls who received their First Holy Communion this May.
There is a new route this year; the procession will leave the Cathedral, go to Bishopsgate Street, then down Mary Street, turning left to Pearse Street, then left to Castle Street and left again to Bishopsgate Street, moving back to and into the Cathedral, concluding with Benediction.
After the procession, everyone is welcome to enjoy light refreshments from the ice cream van and coffee van outside the Cathedral.
“Let us come together as a community to honour the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and celebrate this special feast with joy and faith,” said Fr Barry.
Laura Cahill, chairperson of Mullingar Pastoral Council, said: “Following the procession last year, the Parish Pastoral Council thought it was good to bring back the tradition, and we are keen to organise parish based events for the community.”
The Parish Pastoral Council meet on a monthly basis, and focus on creating a stronger connection among the parish and local families. All Mullingar Parish schools are invited.
