Rochfortbridge Data Centre approved

The controversial Data Centre campus at Rochfortbridge has been given the go ahead by the Westmeath County Council.

The centre has received conditional approval provided it complies with 32 conditions laid out by the Council.

The Data Centre, which was originally proposed back in July of 2025 by Red Admiral Ltd, a subsidiary of Lumcloon Energy, has been the subject of over 60 individual objections and protested repeatedly.

The site is planned to spread across 243 hectares and consist of a security control building, 6 data buildings located within a campus of 39 hectares.

The site is also planned to have its own power source in a Solar farm that will be located east of the data campus.

In addition to these more major developments the site will also house a battery compound, a modular water treatment plant, medium voltage power station, weather stations, and a telecom tower.

There is no information available yet on when construction is expected to start.
