Minister says full details required before any action against Aughinish Alumina
James Cox
The Enterprise Minister said it hasn't been confirmed Irish produced alumina is ending up being used by the Russian military.
Peter Burke said some of the raw material is being bought by Russia but then re-sold into the European market.
An investigation is underway on the back of reports Aughinish Alumina in Limerick is producing alumina which is being used by Moscow's military.
Enterprise Minister Peter Burke said he wants the full facts before acting.
"Alumina is not a dubious product, it hasn't been designated as such. There are many products like that across the economy that haven't been designated as dubious.
"So we have to be clear... get the evidence and then take action if it is so proven that the supply chain is not concealed and is getting in to aid and assist the Russian military complex."
