New playground beside canal

Work is under way on the provision of a new children’s playground at the Grange South Linear Park in Mullingar – and a part of the project, a refuse bin will be provided, Cllr Ken Glynn was informed at June’s Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad meeting.

Cllr Glynn had asked that bins be provided in the area as there is, he said, an ongoing litter problem. “I’ve had to on a number of occasions request a clean-up plan,” he said, stating that it is a heavily utilised area, and there was genuine frustration among the public at seeing the mess left there.

Cllr Aoife Davitt supported the call, and said there is also a need for one further up, where people fish.
