Westmeath Camogie holds club championship launch
Westmeath Camogie launched this year's club championship last Wednesday. The committee was delighted to welcome players, coaches, Executive members, Westmeath GAA reps, sponsors, transfers hearings and disciplinary committee, and the wonderful families who were there for the trophy launches.
SPONSORS
As always, Westmeath Camogie is incredibly grateful to be able to have some amazing sponsors for its club championships. David Smyth Catering will be staying as the Senior Championship partner for 2026 while the same remains for Junior as Deelside Coaches also remain. Intermediate Championship sponsors are in the final stages of confirmation, and a launch will be done in the coming weeks. Thanks all sponsors for their support as the championships would not be there without them.
NEW TROPHIES
Westmeath Camogie is very honoured and privileged to be able to announce that the three club championship trophies are now named as: PJ Fulham Memorial Cup (senior), Pauline Leonard Memorial Cup (Intermediate) and the Liz Cahill Memorial Cup (Junior). More to come on this in the coming weeks. Thank you to the families for their support in this project, to Gary in Midland Trophies for delivering the amazing new silverware in time for the club launch, to the clubs for their suggestions, and to everyone involved.
SENIOR LEAGUE
Round 6 of the Senior League takes place next weekend. Clonkill will meet St Brigid’s, St Munna’s and Castletown-Geoghegan clash in Turin, Crookedwood welcome Raharney, while Drumraney head to Collinstown to meet Lough Lene Gaels earlier in the week. In Division 2, Southern Gaels have the bye. Brownstown and Cullion meet in a repeat of the junior championship final last year, while Delvin and Castlepollard renew rivalries.
FÉILE
Well done to the four teams who took part in Féile around the country at the weekend! A fantastic weekend was had by all from Castletown-Geoghegan, Lough Lene Gaels, Raharney, and St Munnas/Ringtown! Also, a special mention to the three sides – Delvin, Southern Gaels and St Brigid’s – who took part in the rescheduled Westmeath Féile Division C at the weekend which was won by Delvin. A huge thank you to Eugene and everyone in St Mary’s Rochfortbridge for the use of their incredible facilities.
DONATION
Thank you kindly to the amazing people in North Midlands Credit Union who, among their list of donations to the local community, included Westmeath Camogie for selection. This is greatly appreciated by all involved.
