€172,000 in Local Enhancement Programme funding for Westmeath community groups

More than €172,000 in funding for community and voluntary organisations across Westmeath has been announced under the Local Enhancement Programme.

Welcoming the allocation, Minister Robert Troy said: “These grants provide support to the dedicated volunteers and organisations that work tirelessly every day to strengthen our communities.

“While these may not always be the largest grants, they are often among the most important. They help cover the day-to-day running costs of community groups, maintain facilities, purchase essential equipment and ensure organisations can continue providing invaluable services to people of all ages.

“I am particularly pleased to see the Town Teams in Castlepollard, Kilbeggan and Moate each receiving €5,000. Those groups have done tremendous work in enhancing their towns, supporting local initiatives and fostering community pride. This funding will help them build on that excellent work.

“It is also fantastic to see funding being provided to Active Retirement groups, Tidy Towns committees, community centres, youth organisations, sporting groups and many other voluntary organisations across the county. These groups are the backbone of our communities, and this investment recognises the enormous contribution they make.

“I want to congratulate every successful applicant and thank the volunteers who give their time. Their commitment makes Westmeath a better place to live, work and raise a family.

“I look forward to seeing the positive impact this funding will have in communities across the county.”

Minister Troy also acknowledged the continued commitment of the government to supporting the community and voluntary sector, ensuring local organisations have the resources they need to continue their invaluable work.
