Five Westmeath Spar stores receive retail excellence awards

Five Westmeath Spar stores were honoured at the 2026 Spar 365 Standards Customer Care Programme Awards for achieving exceptional standards in retailing.

The awards were held in Killashee Hotel in Naas and hosted by BWG Foods, owners and operators of the Spar brand in Ireland.

This year’s Spar 365 Awards, held in association with independent bodies Solution Management Associates (SMA) and Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), recognise Spar stores that have excelled across all areas of retail operations over the last year.

In winning the awards, the Spar stores were independently assessed across a range of criteria including customer service through SMA as well as a robust Food Safety and Hygiene audit conducted by LRQA.

The Spar Retailers received their award in recognition of their commitment to implementing best practice store standards throughout their stores, thereby providing an excellent customer experience to their local community.

The Westmeath stores that received Spar 365 Standards Customer Care Programme Awards are:

• Spar Corrib Oil Patrick Street, Mullingar

• McDonagh’s Spar Mullingar Plaza

• McDonagh’s Spar Kinnegad Plaza

• West’s Spar Rochfortbridge

• Spar Corrib Oil Ballymahon Road, Athlone

Colin Donnelly, Spar sales director, said: “We are proud of all the Spar Retailers and the exceptional service they provide to their communities and customers throughout Ireland.
