Margaret Lynam, her daughter Clodagh and her sister Una Horgan put in a long shift on Sunday evening, greeting Mayo supporters at they passed by near The Covert on the N4.

They were delighted with the response and the Mayo crew responded with waves, beeps of the car horns, and slowing or stopping to share the moment and the glory of Mayo winning the Sam Maguire Cup for the first time in 75 years.

"We went out about 7 o’clock," said Margaret, and "we were on the N4 shouting and cheering with them, it was mighty. They were thanking us so much for coming out and supporting them. It was just epic."

They don't have any family links to Mayo; they just wanted to share and enjoy the moment with the westerners.
