Pat Dunne from Rahugh with his Landini 5830.Killucan Vintage Club held their annual vintage tractor and car road run on Sunday July 26, and this year there was a focus on the Ferguson tractor, celebrating its 80 years.
The Killucan Vintage Club was founded in 2010, originally formed after a ‘ladies-only tractor run needed an official club to go ahead.
This year’s event was organised to raise funds for local charities including the St Camillus Patients Comfort Fund and the Killucan Raharney Golden Years Club.
Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner at the event, Carol Moore, one of the founders and organisers of the Killucan Vintage Club, said: “It’s family, friends and neighbours and our supporters that sponsor us through this event and help raise the money.”
The route took participants of the vintage run through Killucan village, along the canal and past Mary Lynch’s, before looping back. After the run, attendees enjoyed a BBQ and raffle, and all proceeds went directly to the charities.
“All the money raised from the vintage run and raffle goes to charity, and there is also an array of prizes from the raffle such as nights away, music tickets, fuel vouchers and more,” said Carol.
“We appreciate all the support. Last year we nearly got to the 100 mark between tractors and cars, and we hope to get to the 100 soon,” she added.
