High number of patients on trolleys in Mullingar hospital today

Fourteen admitted patients were on trolleys awaiting beds this morning (Wednesday) at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

The figure was issued by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Association (INMO) in its 'trolley watch' count, which showed a total of 614 admitted patients waiting for beds this morning in hospitals across the country.

In Mullingar, 10 of the patients awaiting beds were in the Emergency Department, while four were in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

Elsewhere across the wider Midlands region there were nine patients on trolleys awaiting beds at the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise today, while one admitted patient was without a bed at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
