Landmark Multy pub for auction
The landmark Murtagh’s pub in Multyfarnham is to be offered for sale by public auction on Wednesday September 2.
Closed since June 5, the pub had been operated by the late Conor Murtagh and his wife Suzanne for 38 years. Conor, sadly, died in July 2024, and Susanne made the difficult decision to retire and put the premises on the market.
Enjoying an outstanding reputation, Murtagh’s had been recognised both locally and nationally for its exceptional standards of hospitality. Most recently, it was crowned Leinster Pub of the Year in 2024.
Located on a prominent Main Street site, the pub also operated as a restaurant, and there is a fully-equipped catering kitchen.
The premises is being offered for sale as fully furnished, fitted and equipped.
As well as the public bar, the lounge bar and the function room/VIP lounge, the amenities include a smoking patio/beer garden.
The sale is also to include the spacious attached private residence, which has five bedrooms, two receptions and as sun lounge, as well, naturally, as the kitchen.
To the rear, there is a generous enclosed garden, complemented by two useful outbuildings. Handling the auction, which is to take place at The Greville Arms Hotel on Wednesday September 2 at 3pm (unless previously sold), is auctioneer John P Younge, of Baggot Street in Dublin.
