Anniversary marked in Castletown Geoghegan

The recent Feast of the Assumption (August 15) is extra special in Castletown Geoghegan. That is because the parochial record for the area includes a mention that ‘the cemetery at Castletown Geoghegan was solemnly consecrated by the Most Rev Laurence Gaughran, Lord Bishop of Meath on 15 August 1912. On the same date the Church at Castletown Geoghegan was solemnly dedicated under the title of St Michael the Archangel. To mark the anniversaries, parishioners joined their new PP, Fr Robert McCabe, for a visit to the cemetery following the feast day Mass.
