Applications open for Phase 2 at Coola Meadows, Kilbeggan

Six new homes in Kilbeggan are being made available through the Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme, Westmeath County Council has announced.

The council, in partnership with Brennan McCann Developments, said applications are now being accepted for the homes - a mix of two-bed and three-bed unitis - which are being offered at a reduced price.

Located at Coola Meadows, the houses start at €265,000. and according to the council, the total discount available to the buyer will depend on the applicant’s circumstances, with factors such as household income and mortgage capacity being considered when calculating the reduction.

Westmeath County Council will retain an equity share in the property equal to the percentage discounted from the overall sales price, and successful applicants can buy-out the council’s share of the property at any time within 40 years of the date of purchase.

The online portal for Phase 2 of the scheme went live yesterday, Monday, August 31 at 12 noon. The portal will remain open for applications for three weeks from that date, closing at midnight, on Sunday September 20.

These properties are open to people who are First Time Buyers or qualify under the "Fresh Start Principle".

Applications will be assessed in line with the Westmeath County Council Scheme of Priority. Applicants will be required to have mortgage approval in principle secured prior to the portal closing date.
